Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is against the law. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are supposedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
