Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino gaming is not permitted. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
